I started this blog to make fun of Travis, Dr. Laura, Nipper and Wendy while they were all engaging in the most egregious narcicistic form of anti-worker yellow journalism and trying to use the printed word to buffalo me.. but I can't be buffaloed as Dr. Laura and Travis will attest to...now Nipper and Wendy have been neutered and spayed and are kinda boring and I gotta go deep to come up with stuff....I really wish they'd do something stupid again! but anyway...here's some California fun for your consideration..
This Saturday, June 12, at SBCC, please join us for a private preview performance of Rona Barrett's Nothing But the Truth — A one woman show with plenty of stars beamed in!
This event is free. Seating is limited to 140 seats. The legendary TV entertainment reporter takes us on a fun behind-the-scenes journey through Hollywood and some of the hundreds of stars she interviewed along the way. She also provides insights into her own background and difficult childhood as she climbed to the top....
and while I 've been fixated on Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown, I totally overlooked any other candidates for Governor until I came across a gal named Laura Wells of the Green Party...
she says:
The disparity of wealth and income is growing. California has 10% of the world’s billionaires. While the California super-rich pay no more tax than anyone else on their first $50,000, they pay a lot less today on the rest of their millions than they did 20-30 years ago.
Let’s look at the largest corporation in California. Chevron executives take their case to court to reduce taxes the corporation pays. At the same time, they take more from us at the gas pump, make record profits, and give back less to California. The bailout was the visible tip of the iceberg; they take taxpayer money, and run.
Meanwhile, California debt is pushed onto the middle class and even the lower income and affluent, and into the future.
Many Californians love the old Prop 13, and well they should. Voters approved it in 1978 because of the parts that were advertised: keeping people, especially seniors on fixed incomes, in their homes. But Prop 13 has sneaky, destructive parts as well. Political leaders will not talk straight about Prop 13, even though keeping the good and fixing the bad of Prop 13 is vital to California.
My name is Laura Wells, and I am a candidate for the Green Party nomination for Governor of California.
now that's some straight talk!
