I have been watching the Harrad Experiment unfold over at Noozhawk where publisher William Macfadyen has decided to limit free speech among commenters to stories...he says: our readers are an opinionated bunch; in some cases, arguably a little too
opinionated. For the next couple of days, I’m going to ask you to keep your opinions to yourselves. I’ve written it before and I’ll say it again: I generally take a libertarian view of free speech and am only reluctantly taking this step.one of the opinion writers, Daniel Petry, supports this attempt to shut you up..he tries to paint himself as a constitution protector, West Point grad, big rah rah war guy patriot, but appears to be a big baby instead! look at this crap...his article about the under 30 generation was full of cliches and nonsense. First, he claims on a plane flight home, he sat next to two young men, a war vet and a salesman who provided the rightwing fodder for his story...his story sounds like it was bogus to the max, man! A similar story by writer Thomas Friedman has been floating around since last year..

it suggests the new generations should be called the "Regeneration" and goes on to show how the boomers sqaundered what their parents, the Greatest Generation, left them...Petry changes a few things around but basically says the same thing with more ultra-conservatisms thrown in...and he doesn't acknowledge Friedman! I think it was a made up story to support his rightwing views and he lifted some ideas from Friedman....the guy is a total fraud..like Dr. Laura!!

I was going to write an article on the fourth branch of our government — the bureaucracy — until I was on a flight home and sat next to two young men.
Both were in their late 20s. One already had served three tours in the Middle East; the other was a midlevel sales manager. They didn’t know me, nor did they know each other. And the conversation we had blew me away.
Folks, you and I are walking in an absolutely clueless fog of arrogance. There is a group out there that is going to solve our problems, but it’s not going to go the way we want, nor will it be pretty. I have to agree with them. Let me say this: If you think that those who comment on Noozhawk are ticked off at one another — or at the government, or at the politicians — well, there’s a generation out there who considers us to be just white noise. We better be watching our back for the haymaker that’s coming our way — and it’s coming fast.
I’m going to call this generation the "Reset Generation," because they are definitely going to reset the game and start over. We will either come along for the ride or be left behind. I’m going to hitch a ride.-Daniel Petry
