20 yr old Mexican police chief Marisol Valles Garcia flees to the U.S. after just four months on the job

This report from across the pond seems to confirm that Ms. Garcia has left Mexico for fear of her life. I don’t blame her at all and applaud her willingness to take the job as police chief in the first place.

As an America, I welcome her in this country and don’t give a rip if she’s legal or not! She deserves an exception from any legal questions as to her status.

The Daily Mail reports that a 20-year-old college student who made headlines around the world when she was hired as the police chief of a Mexican border town has left the job and fled to the U.S. after receiving death threats.

Marisol Valles Garcia left the town of Praxedis G Guerrero with her family after the threats from a 'criminal group that wanted to force her to work for them,' said a relative.

'She went to the United States along with two relatives and will seek asylum," the relative said, who wished to remain anonymous.

However Andres Morales, a spokesman for the town, said Miss Valles Garcia was expected back at work on Monday after taking some time off to deal with family matters.

'Right now, these are rumours,' he said of the asylum report, adding that she had actually gone to the U.S. to seek medical treatment for her infant son who has a lung ailment.

Mexico's El Diario newspaper El Diario quoted Mr Morales as saying: 'If she doesn't return to work on Monday she could be removed, though that would be up to the mayor.'

Some reports in the border area said Miss Valles Garcia left with her son and husband last Monday, February 28, going across the border to Fort Hancock, Texas.

A U.S. Homeland Security spokesperson would not comment on the asylum rumours, adding: 'Asylum applications are confidential under immigration law, and we may not discuss information regarding whether an individual has or has not filed an application.'
