hells bells

Oh, the bells, bells, bells! What a tale their terror tells Of Despair! How they clang, and clash and roar! What a horror they outpour On the bosom of the palpitating air!
I like bells...I like the sound they make when it's noon time....ring ring ring...in their proper place, bells are fine and necessary to add romance to our lives, our dreary little lives...now, the News-Press has been keeping me informed with stories that make me wonder what planet I'm on, but that's ok, I think. The latest story was about a guy who likes to ride his mountain bike on the trails but is so concerned about safety, he's come up with an idea that should please both hikers and bikers...a little bell attached to the bike seat! So when you go up to the hills, a little "Bell Box" display will greet you at the trail head. There's a bunch of them up there! It looks like a doggy bag holder but instead of plastic bags, you get bells, free of charge, that you can use when you hit the trails. You just attach them to your bike seat and the tinkling will alert a hiker walking his dog that you are approaching. It takes all the risk and danger and fun out of a back country experience, and makes it safe as can be! You certainly wouldn't want to take a spill and cut your precious little leg now would you??? or get a booboo on your arm??
nowadays, a hike in the hills is like you never even left the city! Why, pretty soon someone will install Stop Signs up on the trails and maybe even an expresso stand for when you get tired and need a caffeine jolt!
This blessing is provided by the Santa Barbara Mountain Trail Volunteers, another fucking non-profit (whodathunk!!)... donate donate donate so they can buy more bells!! hey... I wonder if they started the Jesusita fire!! geez, talk about over-thinking a dirt path, check this stuff out: dirtyoldmen
Another blessing is at the head of Cold Springs Trail..there's a bunch of junk-on-a-post signs alerting you to the dangers of hiking like bear or coyote encounters; and there's some doggy bags for your pooch, who shouldn't be with you on the trails in the first place...hey, you know, I thought this was public land.... I didn't know you could erect things to suit your personal agenda or clutter up the hills with a bunch of trinkets and nicknacks...well, I got lots of little things too and you folks might like to see them on your next nature walk..coming soon to a trail near you!
to the tintinnabulation that so musically wells
From the bells, bells, bells, bells, Bells, bells, bells -
From the jingling and the tinkling of the bells.
