AddictedTo24 Exclusive: Meeting Kiefer Sutherland - Part II (May 27-29, 2011)

As great as it was getting to see Kiefer in the play and meeting him in April, in May I decided to go back to NYC for the final weekend and to see the last performance of That Championship Season. My birthday was earlier in May so I decided to make it a part of my birthday celebration. What better way to spend your birthday than seeing Kiefer Sutherland in person again?? ;)

My flight left Louisville late afternoon on Friday, May 27th. I hit a bit of a snag when we were delayed from taking off once on the plane because of all the traffic coming into LaGuardia. We ended up being delayed an hour before taking off. Thank GOD it did not end up being canceled or I would have been devastated.

The problem with the delay was that Lisa and I (who I met up with in NY again for the weekend) was that we were afraid we were going to miss seeing Kiefer that evening after the play. We wanted to go there after I arrived to take pix and hopefully say Hi. Thankfully, the play added a 2nd intermission for the final weekend so they were later coming out to sign and take pix with the fans so we made it just in time! Phew!

I got a great spot to hopefully get a pix with Kiefer, just me and him. I wasn't able to get that when I was there in April but I did get a nice pic of him with me and Lisa. He came around to where I was and I mentioned to him that I was there last month (April) and that I came back for the final weekend. He seemed to remember me and said "Oh that's great!" and he also said, "Oh yeah it was colder then". lol Cute. Lisa also asked Kiefer about his dad Donald seeing his performance the night before. She asked him if he he liked the play and he said he "I hope so"...and she also asked if he was more nervous with him being there and after a long pause he said  "I was more... aware".

Anyway, after that I managed to get my pic taken with him which is currently my profile pic.

It was so warm and muggy that night I was a mess but I didn't care, I finally got a pic of me and Kiefer together!

On Saturday, Lisa and I went to the matinee performance which was fun because we had really good seats in orchestra. Got more photos after the matinee. We also stayed around the city and got more pix after the evening performance. Lisa got some fantastic pix and got a big hug and kiss from Kiefer as well that evening! I was so happy for her! :)

Then came Sunday and the last performance. It was hard to believe there was only one performance left after 124 total up to that point. We had great seats again. Lisa's was in the front row and mine were only about 3 rows back from that.

Before the play Lisa and I managed to catch Kiefer as he was arriving at the theater. He stopped for us and we each gave him a card just to congratulate him on his success in the play and wish him luck in his future projects. He gave another hug and kiss to Lisa and thanked her for coming to the play so often and being such a big supporter. I gave him my card and as he took it he said, "Aw thanks darlin'" and right after that he gave me a big hug and kiss! OMG!! I was stunned! I never expected that! I didn't ask for a hug much less a kiss so I was really surprised he did that. It was so amazing and SO nice! He was very sweet to do that. We told him to have a great show and off he went into the theater for the last time. :(

After the play Kiefer spoke briefly to the audience and thanked Jason Patric in particular for helping to bring the play back to the stage and he said he had the time of his life doing the play. He didn't speak long because he was clearly getting emotional talking about the experience. It was very moving how moved he was by being able to have the experience of doing the play and making friends with everyone involved.

The crowd was massive outside after the play so it made it very hard to get close but Lisa managed to get a good vantage point to get some great pix of Kiefer. You could tell all the guys were relaxed and were having a good time with the fans. Kiefer came out in jeans and a t-shirt which was VERY nice! He spent a lot of time with the fans as usual and clearly he was having a great time.

This was an even better experience seeing the play again and I feel so privileged to have been able to be there for the final performance. And of course getting my photo with Kiefer and the hug and kiss from him were the highlights!

It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I'll never forget as long as I live. What made it special too was getting to experience all of it with my best friend Lisa! :)

It was the best birthday I've ever had...
