and damsels in distress..
as long as I see dragonflies and damselflies every spring, I know that nature is winning the battle against people bent on messing up the environment. How do they mess up the environment? by trying to "save" it, that's how..all these programs to remove one species in favor of another species are causing problems that are now coming to light. Did you hear about the Western Tree Hole mosquito and the danger it presents to your little doggie? well, wouldn't it be prudent to keep the mosquito predators around instead of poisoning and killing them? yes, I think it would! The workers that keep mosquito populations in check are frogs and toads, scented plants and trees like Eucalyptus, dragonflies and damselflies, bats and birds, and fish..so everytime a person decides he wants to "restore habitat" by ripping up river banks and planting native oaks and walnut trees, he should think about how the western tree hole mosquito prefers these trees to hole up in; he should think about the frogs and toads and snake habitat he's messing with; when he's cutting down eucalyptus forests, he should think about the tick and mosquito repellant qualities of these trees; when a weed warrior tries to annihilate all yellow and purple thistle, he should think about how the bees love the flowers; when he tries to turn the wild areas into a manicured garden, thoughtlessly applying poisonous herbacides on the mountain flora, he should think about meeting me in a dark alley...or a Big Valley...or anywhere...he really should think....
