they are wasting time, money and resources trying to "go native"....which will require MORE WATER instead of less...more water to keep native plants from dying on the side of the road, while the non-natives that don't need their own private irrigation system will keep growing back which will require Caltrans to keep cutting them down or spraying them with poison so they don't "crowd out" native plants...and around and around they go and where they'll stop nobody knows.

If...
Meg Whitman can get Caltrans to leave the roadside flowers alone and pave the goddam highway, I'll vote for her!!
on a recent trip to Sears to pick up a sofa, I was bounced and jostled from State St to the La Cumbre off ramp to the point where I almost bought a monster truck at Graham CHEVY with giant shocks..the three- laner north bound is in bad shape..still. There's about 500 little patch jobs that Caltrans did but it just made things worse!! I do not understand why they don't drop all their little landscape projects and PAVE THE GODDAM HIGHWAY!! This is what they should. This is what a manager would do..a leader would do. Instead, they are going psycho- green and now are in the business of preventing
highway fires! I heard they will be clearing brush and trimming trees in Montecito in the Olive Mill area. For Caltrans, trimming a tree means cutting it down, so look for some improved ocean views over there! and they are still working over at Santa Claus Lane putting in 20 to 30 new irrigation boxes for their over-engineered sprinkler system..a system that
wasn't needed for the previous plants and trees they ripped out..what a bunch of idiots!! This area around the marsh is green and beautiful already and doesn't need any help from Caltrans..as a matter of fact, they have messed up Santa Claus Lane with a huge Caltrans Mountain of gravel..what are these people doing??
