'24' star Mary Lynn Rajskub reveals Kiefer Sutherland's secret hobby

The stars of the hit Fox show “24” were in New York last night to celebrate the eighth season premiere.

Fox411 was there to speak to some of the stars, who gave us some inside scoop about the action scenes, what to expect for the upcoming season and, of course, what’s it like to work with the one and only Jack Bauer, played by actor Kiefer Sutherland.

Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays Chloe O’Brian, tells 411 one thing fans might not know about Sutherland: their favorite TV action hero actually spends his time in-between takes relaxing with a quick game of chess.

But while Sutherland might prefer a more quiet form of preparation, actor Freddie Prinze Jr. tells 411 that he got ready for his role as Cole Ortiz by learning about life as a soldier, in addition to getting himself in shape.

“It was much more [about] understanding military protocol and looking for those opportunities in the script as far as character choices,” Prinze said. “But as far as training, you just have to eat better, make sure you work out [and] don’t eat fried chicken as much as you’d like, which sucks.”

Annie Wersching, who plays FBI special agent Renee Walker, told Fox that her character’s butt-kicking scenes are some of her “favorite parts” of working on “24.”

“I was a dancer growing up, so a lot of the fights are like choreography … you basically just learn as it goes. When we have downtime, I try to get a lot of kickboxing classes just to keep it going.”

And as for the star of the show, Sutherland was happy to admit that for the past seven seasons, no one has been able to take down his character Jack Bauer.

“He’s a pretty tough guy,” he said.
