how many roads...

must a man walk down, before they call him man?

and how many times has the Santa Barbara school board, under the "leadership standards" of Brian Sarvis, screwed up? and they want to close Cezar Chavez school because it doesn't meet the standards of a charter school? What standards are they talking about..how does a 6 year old kid have standards...they are all about wide-eyed curiosity and too busy being little kids to worry about standards...look, the motive here is racism and the board knows it..and they should be ashamed of themselves...Cezar Chavez is like Che Guevara, the Cuban revolutionary, to white people. Chavez organized Mexican farm workers; Guevara was was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, intellectual, guerrilla leader, military theorist, and major figure of the Cuban Revolution; Chavez was a labor leader and union organizer....so the problem seems to be with the dual immersion issue: Dual Immersion Academy (DIA), a Spanish-English dual language elementary school (K-8) chartered by the Utah State Office of Education, opened in September 2007. DIA offers an educational choice for parents who want their children to become bilingual and bi-literate at the age when their young minds have the greatest aptitude for language development. The well-researched and proven effectiveness of dual immersion schools includes data on higher performance in all academic subject areas and increased ability to acquire additional languages.
In today's culture, learning multiple languages is a necessity and the best way to teach is get the kids early..that's the goal of dual immersion...there has to be a separate standard because most educational standards favor white people..one size does not fit all...
Now, the school board needs to keep the Cezar Chavez school open. The board also needs to retool the way they do business..they are supposed to be educators not political puppets. Their job is to make sure the kids succeed!! The board cannot continue with the current leadership, which has failed Santa Barbara..Brian Sarvis is the personification of the Peter Principal..he is at his highest level of incompetence...and there he sits....
time for a change!!!
