Michael Jackson: Requiem for the King of Pop

Did Jesus come back to earth and die again?

Oh, pardon me. It was only another report on Michael Jackson. Between the media segments about what killed him, who’s taking care of the children, how many people will jam into Los Angeles to watch the memorial, and how much tickets to the events are selling for on Ebey, it all seems quite appalling.

What does this say about us as a society?

I guess entertainment rules!

As long as we’re entertained, we’ll overlook any kind of perversion, debauchery, or depravity.

As long as we’re entertained, we’ll call what is wrong, right, and what is right, wrong.

As long as we’re entertained, we’ll let our children stay overnight in a grown man’s home and let him share his bed.

As long as we’re entertained, we’ll proclaim that a musical icon is dead and that there will never be another one like him.

But somewhere away from the screaming fans and the mindless celebrity worship, stand a slew of adult males with a different story to tell. Nobody wants to hear from these people because that would ruin the celebration of the king.

Nothing comes between us and our entertainment!
