the bridge...

good bye cruel world...

bridges should not be rigged with anything that detracts from their original intent: to convey people from one side to the other... unless there's a safety issue...in Carp the 7th Street bridge has a barrier, but it has been there forever probably for the kids' sake...you see, Carp is a safe place and there's lots of toddlers wandering around in the middle of the night..we don't want them falling off the bridge!
the News-Press can't seem to write anything honest! It's amazing..consider the recent opinion on the Cold Spring Bridge.
The story of the Cold Spring Bridge suicide barrier starts with Dr. Lisa Firestone, who IS NOT Brooks' daughter.
Instead of naming her as the culprit who pushed for the barrier, the News-Press blame the government...they wouldn't dare criticize a Firestone...too many business ties!
Caltrans is responding to a safety issue brought up by Lisa Firestone!
lisa
She thinks that a barrier on the bridge will keep despondent people from jumping to their deaths..it's a nice gesture, but not realistic. Suicide prevention starts with treating the cause, not the symptom..mental health professionals work to help depressed people see other possiblities..it's an awareness issue and in some cases a brain chemical imbalance issue...end the stigma and start the talking...that will help end suicides...bridge barriers are the wrong approach. We shouldn't add fluoride to water supplies to treat dental problems, and we shouldn't add screens to bridges to treat mental problems...the road to hell is paved with good intentions
