WOW! I've never seen a man work as hard as Nipper this past week..after a 6 year lull, the co-publisher is actively working to right some recent wrongs within the NewsPress..the editorial page writer recently looks like he's on crack..misplaced headlines, old news reported as new, incorrect information....
the errors were pointed out rather humorously by some Nippers.com regulars..ie. foodies who have been posting for years...the paper reported that some restaurants were closed in the SYV when in fact they were open..Nipper blamed the mistake on an ex-colleague who entered the wrong info in his restaurant database..and Travis was just copying that..he took responsibility and promised a retraction..
It can be very entertaining when the NewsPress or Travis pisses off some of the foodies, they can't complain to the paper, so they give it straight to Nipper on his website! Usually, he ignores or patronizes them, but lately he has been promising to fix problems..even giving out his and Don Katich, the new operation manager's, phone numbers..service with a smile!
Now, what has caused this new found humility and customer service policy....fear probably..of losing customers and advertisers faster than a speeding bullet..employees of the past have been fired for less than Travis's mistakes, but the hypocrisy is still front and center..protecting Travis because Wendy likes him is a sloppy business practice, especially when all his editorial mistakes start to hurt business....the main problem at the NewsPress is the customers, ie the readers, don't trust anyone there! They can't relate to anyone, esp recently departed columnists PIP and DR LAURA who produced nothing more than repetitive high paid drivel... hiring these types is a bad business decision...you need to put in columnists that people can relate to, not because the owners like them, but because the readers do...
Nobody gives a darn what the owner thinks, anyway!
there..that's your new business model....from one knucklehead to another....
